A slat wall panel turns a plain wall into the focal point of a room. Vertical timber-effect slats add warmth, texture and height, and they hide cables behind a TV far better than paint ever could. That is why slat walls now appear in living rooms, hotel rooms, receptions and offices across Ghana.
Where slat walls work best
- Behind the TV in a living room or hotel room.
- Behind the bed as a headboard wall.
- Reception and waiting areas that need a premium first impression.
- Columns and corridors that need texture without clutter.
Designing a TV feature wall
A good TV wall combines three things: the slat panel, a smooth panel behind the screen and a floating cabinet below. The smooth panel frames the TV, the cabinet hides decoders and cables, and the slats tie everything together.

Plan the cables first
Decide where the sockets, HDMI cables and decoder will go before the panels are fixed. Cables should run behind the wall so nothing hangs below the screen.
Add lighting
An LED strip behind the TV panel or along the top of the slats adds depth in the evening. It also makes the wall look finished in photos, which matters for hotels and short-let apartments.
Choosing materials
Slat panels come in timber, MDF with a wood-effect finish and composite materials. In humid rooms, composite and well-sealed MDF hold their shape better than raw timber. Pick a tone that matches your doors or furniture so the room feels planned.
Keeping slat walls clean
Dust settles in the grooves, so a soft brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner once a week keeps them looking new. Avoid soaking the panels with water.
Slat walls in hotels and offices
In hotel rooms, a slat wall behind the TV or bed gives every room the same premium look and photographs well for booking sites. In offices and banks, slats add warmth to receptions and meeting rooms, and they can hide service doors and cables in plain sight.

Colour combinations that work
- Warm oak slats with white cabinets for a light, modern room.
- Walnut slats with cream walls for a richer, hotel-style finish.
- Dark slats with brass accents for a bold lounge or bar.
Frequently asked questions
Can slat panels be fitted on uneven walls?
Yes. A batten frame is fixed to the wall first so the panels sit straight even if the wall behind is uneven.
Do slat walls make a room look smaller?
Vertical slats actually make ceilings feel higher. Using them on one feature wall keeps the room balanced.
How long does it take to install a TV wall?
Most single TV walls are fitted within a day or two once the panels and cabinet are ready, depending on cabling and size.
